Since the opening of the Öresund Bridge, Sweden's third-largest and fastest growing city, Malmö, has joined the Danish capital of Copenhagen to form an exciting new cross-border metropolitan region. Stay in Malmö and you get two cities in one as Copenhagen is just 30 minutes on the train.

Lilla Torg is Malmö's most picturesque square, surrounded by excellent restaurants, bars and open-air cafés. This is also where you'll find the indoor market, Saluhallen, offering a pleasant blend of world cuisine, from falafel to sushi and exquisite fish dishes. At Möllevångstorget, the square, there's a big food market which is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.

The Western Harbour was regenerated in 2001 as a result of the ‘bo 01’ housing fair. It is a thriving location, with a variety of restaurants and bars and home to Scandinavias tallest building, The Turning Torso. With excellent swimming spots from natural beaches and purpose built decking, when the sun is shining there really is no other place to socialise and relax. The ‘cold bath house’ is open all year round and is extremely popular with the locals during the winter. Here you can swim in the sea then warm up in the sauna at the water's edge. The Swedes describe it as a full body massage!
