Mountain Kayaking Expedition

(Min 4 people. Available June to September)

At the Northern most tip of Sweden there are outstandingly beautiful lakes and rivers perfectly suited to kayaking. This tour offers rich experiences of nature and the culture in Northern Sweden. Bird watching, fishing and nature trekking are just some of the extras available. Moose and reindeer are no strangers on this expedition. Breathe the fresh air and experience the midnight sun.

Mountain Kayaking Expedition

Day 1

You will land in Luleå during the afternoon where your guides will welcome you from the plane. After a 2 hour transfer you arrive in Jokkmokk, visit the famous Ajtte (Sami) museum and have dinner at a local pub. Accommodation in traditional log cabins.

Day 2

Following breakfast you head for the gate to the mountains, Lake Karat. After loading and preparing the equipment you will be given a safety and route briefing. Take to the water, admire the gorgeous scenery and enjoy your expedition in some of the most unspoilt nature in Europe. Base camp is on the beautiful island of Loussasoloui (salmon island), wilderness dinner, sauna and log cabins.

Day 3

During the day you paddle further into the mountain range, through narrower parts of Lake Karat. Lunch is served over a fire at the lake side. The northern tip of the lake is home for the night under the canvas of a Lappish tee-pee. There are chances to try some fishing (you may even catch dinner!) or enjoy a short hike in the area.

Day 4

After a short walk you're on the shores of Lake Peraure, just one of the hundreds of Lakes in Swedish Lapland. After lunch you will spend the afternoon trekking to one of the surrounding peaks with amazing views across Laponia and Sarek regions in clear weather. Wilderness supper and overnight in a Lappish tee-pee.

Day 5

After breakfast you return to Lake Karats and paddle the calm waters of these fabulous crystal clear lakes. Lunch is served on one of the many islands in the lake. Dinner served over an open fire and over night in a Lappish tee-pee.

Day 6

After breakfast you head towards the start point. Savour your last moments in this untouched wilderness and make sure you have plenty of pictures to keep those memories alive!! After packing the equipment you head for the city of Luleå, a 3 course dinner, sauna and overnight in a double hotel room.

Day 7

A free day to relax, time to do some shopping or just have a coffee. Transfer to the airport to meet your flight to Stockholm or the UK.
