Luleå Archipelago Kayaking Expedition

With over 800 islands Luleå Archipelago is one of the most picturesque in Sweden. This sub arctic region, with long summer days, offers a rich variety of plant, bird and wild life amongst amazing scenery. The area's contrasting green and barren islands create the perfect environment for this diverse wild life to thrive. It is not uncommon to see moose or reindeer on our kayaking expeditions.

Luleå Archipelago Expedition

Day 1

Fly from the UK or Stockholm to Luleå. Your guides will welcome you at the airport and escort you to Jopikgården Inn (comfortable 4 bedded rooms) on the island of Hindersö. Supper, expedition briefing and a sauna as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast you receive and prepare your equipment for departure. The destination is the Klunt islands where you stop for lunch. Take this opportunity to explore the nature reserve. During the afternoon you explore the eastern side of these islands, examining the ship wreck at Basta Skär. On the island of Kluntarna dinner is prepared over an open fire and accommodation is provided in a tent or traditional log cabin.

Day 3

Nothing better than a good wilderness breakfast to start the day! Heading north the islands provide protection for birds in the form of small nature reserves. The island of Lapp provides the location for the evenings base camp. This is a forest nature reserve where you can pitch your tent and explore.

Day 4

Depending on the speed and conditions you may head for the mountain island of Bergön or the traditional village of Husvön which is 1000 years old. Lunch is served on one of the many islands in this vast archipelago. A good wilderness supper around a camp fire before retiring to you tent. 

Day 5

As you turn back towards Hindersö island you begin to reflect on this truly unique experience. Stop, rest and enjoy the ritual of fika on the beautiful islands in the area of Tisters Öarna. Supper is served around an open fire and your tent is your accommodation.

Day 6

After helping each other pack the kayaks you paddle back to Jopikgården Inn where you will enjoy a sauna and 3 course supper while discussing the adventure of the past few days. Over night in comfortable 4 bedded rooms.

Day 7

After breakfast you will return to the city of Luleå where you will have some time to explore this picturesque small city before catching your flight back to the UK or Stockholm.
