Åre - Activities 2012/13

Åre has some of the most wide ranging winter activities available in any top class ski resort. Here is just a small selection. Activities available on location are heli-skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing, go carting on ice, quad biking on ice and the largest Zipline park in Europe. Please note for all the activities stated below you must provide your own warm clothing, gloves, scarves, hats and sturdy boots where appropriate. Where helmets are required these are provided. To drive a snowmobile you must be in possession of a driving licence that is valid in Sweden. A full UK licence is valid in Sweden if you are over 18 yrs old.

Zip-line - Europe's largest zip line
Home to the largest zip-line park in Europe. 60 meters high, several hundred meters long and speeds up to 40 miles per hour. If you like an adrenalin rush and gliding through nature & steep ravines, this is for you! There are 2 runs which make this suitable for everyone. It takes between 2½ & 3hrs to complete the zip line and there are 4 lines per track. If you have back problems or are pregnant you should not take part in this activity. For the black run the minimum weight is 50kg and min age is 13yrs. For the green run the minimum age is 8yrs. Maximum weight on both runs is 110kgs. No back packs permitted. Snowmobile excursion - 2 hours
The most popular snowmobile tour in Åre. This tour starts off with some easy driving across Åre Lake. This is the perfect start where everyone gets the opportunity to get a feel for the machines. After a couple of kilometers you head into the mountains and towards the peaks. On the way you stop at a cabin where you can purchase hot beverages and perhaps a freshly made traditional swedish waffle with whipped cream and jam! There are several different routes making this tour possible, even if the weather suggests otherwise. included in this tour is a helmet, snowmobile suit and boots. Min 8yrs old. Children 50% of adult price.

Snowmobile under the stars - 2½ hours
Head out into the night, across frozen lakes and over high peaks as the stars glitter in the sky above. Admire night views of Åre from above and explore the wilderness of the Swedish mountains. There are several different routes making this tour possible, even if the weather suggests otherwise. included in this tour is a helmet, snowmobile suit and boots. Min 8yrs old. Children 50% of adult price.

Snow show excursion
Venture into the deep untouched snow around Åre using snow shoes. Snow shoes are quiet and have little impact on the surrounding environment allowing you to get the most out of your 3hr excursion in the wilderness.

Husky excursion - 2½ hours
The most popular non-skiing activity. This tour suits everyone, children as well as grown ups. The sled ride goes through varying terrain and the views are wonderful. Along the tour we stop for a coffee break, it is always nice with a break for stretching your legs and socializing with the dogs. Children have a 25% discount

Moose farm & Tännforsen Waterfall
A wonderful visit to a local moose farm and one of Sweden's largest waterfalls, impressive icicles hang from the waterfall during the winter and the stunning views make this trip worth while. It is often described as Sweden's most beautiful water fall. By the waterfall there is a small igloo village which you can look around. During your time at the moose park you may be able to feed and touch these beautiful animals. You can also purchase moose waffles! Children have a 25% discount
