White Water Rafting Expeditions

(Min 4 people. Available June to September)

Experience the wild waters of Swedish Lapland on grade II to grade V white water. We will arrange day rafting activities or expeditions between 2 and 7 days long where you will spend your nights in tents or traditional log cabins. We will take you to some of the most remote, unspoilt places in Europe and the World. You will be able to enjoy the midnight sun, the sight of shy Lapland wildlife and the thrill of white water. You will take home memories to last a lifetime.

Here is just 1 example of the rafting expeditions available.

Kaitum Rafting Expedition

Day 1

Fly from the UK to Kiruna. You will be welcomed by your guides and taken to the heliport. Savour the spectacular views of Lapland offered by a 30 minute helicopter ride to Tjuonajokk, the start point of this thrilling and educational experience. A late lunch will be provided in a beautiful restaurant. Following a safety briefing your rafting journey begins and you become familiar with the raft and the water on grade II and grade III rapids. Supper is served at the river side.

Day 2

Breakfast is served before experiencing some of the best white water in Swedish Lapland. The rapids are short and powerful with a grade IV rating. When paddling along the calmer stretches of water keep your eyes open for native wildlife. Lunch and dinner are served on the river banks.

Day 3

Following your breakfast in the wilderness you take to the water. As you are now experienced paddlers, this day is dedicated to more advanced and technical rafting. Grade III and IV white water let you test your new skills. At the Stour Kourtje waterfall you will take out your rafts as this part is not navigable and re-join the river just below. A wilderness lunch and supper are provided.

Day 4

Following breakfast you continue to explore this ever changing and diverse river. Once again keep your eyes open as the wildlife is shy in this uninhabited part of the world. Lunch is provided at the old Sami Camp, Riekku. Supper is prepared over an open fire.

Day 5

Following breakfast you have an enjoyable paddle through grade III rapids towards civilisation, and the village of Kaitum, stopping for lunch on the way. Sauna, dinner and overnight in a traditional log cabin.

Day 6

Following breakfast transfer to Kiruna to catch your lunch time flight to Stockholm or the UK.
