Here is a list of the alternative activities available during your Northern Lights holiday in Tromso, Norwegian Lapland.

Northern Lights Photography Course - 8hrs
It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner or more experienced photographer. The groups are small so our professional photographers in Tromso are here to teach you the basics, or more advanced techniques of night time photography. Perhaps take this course close to the beginning of your holiday so you can make the most of your new found skills. There is a short studio session at the beginning of the course before spending most of the evening outdoors. All you need to bring along is an SLR camera, tripod, good shoes and thick socks! You will be provided with a light meal, hot drinks and professional guides. This activity includes a photography work shop before heading into the wilderness in search of the northern lights.

Northern Lights husky excursion
Drive your own team of huskies or take a ride with our experienced guides and chase the Northern Lights. With headlamps and the dogs nose you head through the snow covered landscape. If the weather is good and you are lucky the Northern Lights will appear. If not you will in either case have a experience you will never forget. After about one hour with dog sledding you return to the wilderness centre where you will be served “Bi dos” with coffee and cake for dessert inside a Swami Tent. When ever you want you can step outside to have a look for the Northern Lights. You will also have the opportunity to visit the puppies and make some four legged friends. If you wish to drive your own sled let us know when you book, but if the weather is bad you need to take place in the sled. The price is the same.

Aurora Chase with evening meal
Pack your passport as you could end up in Sweden or Finland! Your guide has been closely monitoring the weather all day to see where the clear skies will be and the best location to see the northern lights. During this minibus tour you will be provided with hot and cold drinks, boots and warm suit and perhaps some basic photography instructions.

Overnight Husky in the Wilderness

Replace a night in Tromso for a spectacular 30hr wilderness husky tour through the Norwegian Fjords and coastal mountains. This is one of the most comprehensive husky tours we offer.
You will be collected from your hotel after breakfast at approx. 10am. 25min transfer to the husky kennels. Before the expedition starts you get a full introduction into husky sledding before heading out towards the mountains. Depending on whether you will drive for 5-8 hours to the wilderness camp. After taking care of the dogs you have the chance to settle down and enjoy a wilderness meal under the night sky. You’re in one of the best locations to see the Northern Lights so keep your camera close by!
After breakfast you will head further into the mountains and enjoy pristine beauty and unspoiled wilderness. Possible wildlife sightings along the trail include fox, eagles, arctic and snowshoe hares, moose and reindeers. Learn more about husky sledding and don't be surprised if you get close to your four legged friends as Alaskan huskies are very friendly! You will be back at your hotel around 5pm. This tour includes lunch x 2, breakfast x 1 & evening meal x 1 and warm outer clothing.

A northern lights snow shoe excursion in the mountains, searching for the northern lights. Head to the mountains surrounding Tromso and appreciate just how small we are compared to the vast and spectacular scenery of Northern Norway. Even if you don't see the Northern Lights, it's well worth the trip!

Northern Lights Evening
A warm welcome to Norway. Enjoy the darkness of Lapland just 25 minutes away from Tromsø Centrum. You will be served hot drinks and you can grill sausages over an open fire inside a Sami Tent (lavvo) while you wait for the lights. Outside you can star gaze on reindeer skins or sit on chairs while you scout the night sky in search of the Northern Lights. Your knowledgeable guide will answer any questions you have and although we can of course never guarantee the Northern Lights we are sure the evening will be entertaining, fun & educational. Includes a traditional wilderness evening meal. Approx 4hrs.

Snow shoe excursion - 3½ hours
Following a short introduction about snowshoe trekking your guide will show you some suggested routes close before you go trekking on your own. Along the trip you will see the stunning Norwegian fjords and steep mountains that surround Tromsø and you might even get a close look at some of Norwegian Laplands wildlife like reindeer & moose. Back at base you will be served a traditional Sami meal before returning to your hotel.

Husky excursion - 3½hrs
Enjoy the arctic coastal nature surrounded by snow capped mountains with a fantastic view across the fjord to Tromso. You can choose to sit in the sled or drive your own team of huskies (please let us know at the time of booking). As you glide silently over the snow covered landscape there is a good chance of seeing some native wildlife including moose & reindeer. You will spend approx. 1hr on the husky tour before returning to the kennels, seeing the husky puppies & enjoying a traditional sami meal around an open fire in a Sami tent.

Husky excursion - 8hrs
A more advanced, hands on version of the 4hr tour above. The dog sledding trip last for approximately 5 hours and you can enjoy pristine beauty and unspoiled wilderness. Possible wildlife sightings along the trail include fox, eagles, arctic and snowshoe hares, moose and reindeers. Choose whether to drive your own sled or sit on the guides sled (please let us know at the time of booking). No previous husky experience is necessary but the alaskan huskies are famed for being friendly so you may have some furry friends by the end of the tour! A traditional sami meal is included.
