Ripan - Kiruna, Lapland

Ripan is perfectly located in the capital of Lapland, Kiruna. It is just 10 minutes walk from the city centre where ice festivals and seasonal markets are well worth a visit. Ripan is just steps away from snow covered forests, stunning white wilderness and shy wildlife making this the perfect winter escape from hustle and bustle of large British cities. Ripan is just a 30 minute transfer from ICEHOTEL, so you may want to combine a stay here with some time at ICE HOTEL or quite simply enjoy an excursion to this magical structure of ICE? Accommodation is modern and comfortable in individual hotel standard cabins, or stuga (as the Swedish call them!). All cabins have a bathroom with shower and WC, drying area, cable TV and telephone. The generous breakfast buffet and your evening meals are served in the cosy restaurant, which was fully refurnished last year. There are also family cabins with 1 double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds, perfect for a family of 4 with children of all ages. These cabins have recently been refurbished to include a fridge, microwave / oven and small hob. Ripan has a fine restaurant, and like most Swedish restaurants, the ingredients are sourced locally and in tune with the passing seasons. Aurora Retreat, Junosuando - Lapland

Located on beautiful Hindersön island in the Luleå Archipelago is Jopikgården, a charming family hotel. The hotel restaurant is renowned for is fine dining and local foods and has a bustling trade on the week ends from locals driving out on the ice roads to take coffee and waffles with berries and icecream. The hotel has four exclusive hotel rooms with ensuite on the second floor and these are new and well renovated in a traditional style. The style of the hotel is a traditional swedish farm house and the walls abound with photos from days past when seal hunters and fishermen lived on these island to etch out a living in a harsh but beautiful climate. There is also hostel style accommodaton i a seperate building which is popular with conference guests. These rooms have four bunki beds in each and shared facilities.
