ICEHOTEL is situated in the picturesque village of Jukkasjärvi, 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, on the shores of the River Torne, which flows freely through the unspoiled wilderness. As winter approaches every Autumn the pure clear water and gentle movement creates crystal clear ice up to 1 metre thick. This unique building material is the source of ICEHOTEL, ICEchurch and the Absolute ICEbar. In fact the entire ICEHOTEL is on loan from the mighty river Torne.

This year the world famous and original ICEHOTEL is creating yet another unique architectural masterpiece, constructed purely from ICE. Construction will begin in November 2013, some time after the first ice has formed and the first layer of magical snow has fallen. The doors to ICEHOTEL will open on Friday 6 December 2013 and building work continues into early January. This is a fantastic time to visit and see the evolution and creation of such an amazing ICE structure. You may have already seen this on TV so now is the time to visit in person with Simply Sweden.
