Attractions include a unique seaside location, beaches, rocky islands and of course the magic “Koster light”, which has inspired many artists on the island. Renting a bike and a guided tour are strongly recommended so you can appreciate all that is surrounding you. Also known as Strandflickorna (The Beach Girls). This charming hotel from the turn of the century is located on the sea front in Lysekil. King Oscar II was once a regular visitor and had his own suite! 15 individually decorated rooms are in the main building and 2 outstanding suites are located on the rocks by the sea. The hotel is located at the mouth of one of Sweden's deepest fjörds, Gullmarsfjörden, with a depth of around 120meters and is just 110km (65miles) from Gothenburg. We recommend you ask for an upgrade to either the Havsatelijen or the Badpaviljong, located on the rocks by the sea. Access to these suites is by a steep rocky staircase, just 50m from the main building.

Sweden's most westerly islands are rugged, raw and incredibly beautiful. Unprotected from natures elements this collection of islands lie some 10 nautical miles from the mainland. During the 18th and 19th centuries the need for greater safety at sea meant these inhospitable islands became home to an extended lighthouse and pilot service. In 1965 the lighthouse was fully automated and the pilots returned to the main land. Today there is an excellent restaurant complemented by a comfortable guest house. There are no TVs in the bedrooms (just look out of the window!) and the showers & toilets are in the corridor. All rooms have a sea view. The only way to reach the islands is by a special boat service. Purchased in Northern Ireland the boats were brought back to Sweden across the North Sea. A sure sign that no matter what the weather you will always be able to reach the barren, rugged, dramatic Weather Islands. You will depart for the Weather Islands at 1pm. The journey takes approx. 20mins. You will be welcomed with a sandwich and warm drink and you will have time to to explore this stunning location. A walk to the old pilots station is recommended. An excellent 3 course evening meal (based around sea food) is served in the renowned restaurant. If you would prefer to spend just a few hours on the Weather Islands then we recommend Storahotellet in Fjällbacka.

The Islands of Koön and Marstrand are located just 45mins from Gothenburg. Koön is connected to the mainland by a bridge, however Marstrand is a car free island connected by a regular cable ferry across Marstrand Harbour. You will stay at the new Marstrands Havshotell (Sea Hotel) on Koön in the harbour area. The suites offer sea views.
Marstrand has been fought over for centuries by the Swedes, Norwegians and the Danish. The peace treaty signed in 1658 finally made Marstrand Swedish. It is home to beautiful houses, an impressive fortress and cozy cafes Local activities include boat & fishing trips, sailing, quay side bars & restaurants and great walks. Marstrand is a place for pleasure, a place to love for its culture, history, beauty and legends.

During the long summer days, meals are served in the garden or on the terrace offering breathtaking views across an outstanding west coast archipelago. Villa Sjötorp is located in the heart of West Sweden's stunning coastline. A myriad of islands and fjords are on the door step for you to explore with small picturesque fishing villages and beaches. Welcome to Smögen, along with Marstrand, one of the most popular summer destinations in West Sweden and is a hive of activity during the summer months.
Smögen Havsbad (Sea Bath) opened in 1900 and has been carefully renovated over the years and now features a spectacular extension carved into the rocks, with a relaxing SPA and swimming pool.
Unsurprisingly many activities are water based, with plenty of boat trips. During the summer there are regular services to the island of Hållö and to Kungshamn, the main town. On Smögen you will find excellent restaurants (we recommend Smögen Sea Lodge) and shops along the quay side. Seal watching, kayaking and sailing are all on offer in the local area.

Sweden's first floating hotel (opened 2008) is located on the island of Klädesholem (Herring Island), offering peaceful and picturesque views across the famous Bohuslän Archipelago, just 45mins from Gothenburg. There are 23 rooms (including one suite) in six two-storey buildings on floating pontoons. The hotel has been built to complement the highly successful Salt & Sill restaurant, accredited by Taste of West Sweden. The hotel will blend into the sea environment by creating a reef and haven for marine life to flourish underneath and around the pontoons supporting the hotel.

4 star hotel located by the harbour in Fjällbacka on Swedens beautiful West Coast. Ideal for those looking to spend just a few hours on the Weather Islands. Storahotellet was re-built in 1997 and is a tribute to local globetrotter and seafarer Captain Klassen. Each of the 23 rooms tells a story from his favourite distant ports to explorers and friends he met on his journeys across the globe. Fjällbacka is an idyllic retreat at the bottom of imposing granite cliffs. Archipelago tours, fishing and the weather attract visitors from across Sweden and beyond. Fjällbacka was home to the summer retreat of Ingrid Bergman and you will find a statute of the famous actress on the quay side. It is also home to Camilla Läckberg, one of the growing collection of Swedish crime writers.
