Gothenburg is Sweden’s second city and the gateway to West Sweden and the magical Bohuslän Archipelago. Gothenburg is a compact city built on the Göta River with a wide range of shops, restaurants and attractions for all ages and tastes. With an excellent transport infrastructure, centred around Central Station, it’s easy to escape the big city and begin to explore the archipelago.
The Bohuslän Archipelago stretches from Gothenburg to Strömstad and beyond into Norway. Rocky islands, protected bays and Sweden’s most diverse marine environment make West Sweden a dream location. Explore just a few of the thousands of islands, indulge in the rich Swedish culture and feast on arguably the best seafood in Europe. Many parts of this scenic part of Sweden are accessible by public transport, but for freedom and flexibility we do recommend including a rental car with your holiday.
