We bring you the very best travel opportunities in Sweden from the experts with the local knowledge. We have travelled extensively throughout Sweden and want to share our experiences with you.

Stockholm Activities 2011

These activities have been awarded 'Natures Best', Sweden's mark of Eco tourism. They offer some of the best opportunities to get out into the archipelago or witness the proximity of wildlife and nature to the centre of a major city.
Many of the tours are not suitable for children under 12yrs. We can often arrange a more child friendly activity for kayaking and walking. Please ask.
Most transfers to the start point of your activity are self transfers and are easily accessible by an efficient and reliable public transport system, often part of the Stockholm Card. We will of course let you know exactly where the start point is and how to get there. We will advise on what to pack for these activities. All times are approx. Min group size is 2 unless otherwise stated.

Kayaking
Kayaking Day in the Archipelago
If you could do just one nature excursion in Stockholm, then you should kayak in the outer archipelago. This watery world consists of thousands of uninhabited small islands which are among the wildest areas in Europe.
This day tour is at an easy tempo to suit both beginners and more experienced alike. Most who join this tour have limited or no previous experience. The techniques are easy to learn and after a short training session you set off on your journey of discovery.
Our tour guides are experienced paddlers with excellent knowledge of the archipelago, its history, flora and fauna. They know their way to the finest islands, skerries and inlets. Surprisingly few visitors come here and it is easy for us to find a deserted island to take a swim and stop for a rest with a well-prepared lunch.
At 0845 you take the bus out into the archipelago. After 45mins you reach the end of the bus line and your guide will be there to meet you. Taxi boat to the kayak base for your kayaking tour. Afternoon tea before returning to Stockholm city between 6 & 7pm.

Price £120 per person
Thursday - Sunday 30 June - 28 August.
Includes qualified & experienced guide, kayaking equipment (stable 1 or 2 man kayaks incl buoyancy aids), hamper lunch & snacks, taxi boat to / from kayak base. Min age 12yrs (family tours can be arranged separately), must be able to swim at least 200m

The Stockholm Archipelago

Stockholm Archipelago is made up of some 24,000 islands and is one of Europe's wildest and most unique areas. The islands actually start right in the middle of the city. Stockholm City is made up of 14 islands. Other parts of the capital are uninhabited and are still among the wildest areas in Europe. No one island is quite like another. Some are forest-clad, some rise high above the sea - others are low, bare slabs of rock called “skerries”. On some of the islands it takes several hours to walk from one end to the other. It is possible to swim around others in a couple of minutes!
This tour starts at 8.30 when you will meet your guide in central Stockholm before hopping on board the morning archipelago ferry. Keep your camera close by as the scenery is stunning as you weave between hundreds of islands on your way to Finnhamn.
Here you explore the nature by the sea and perhaps take a swim. After lunch you will cross to the neighbouring island of Ingmarsö by rowing boat and the nature reserve Kålgårdsön. There are several options for walking, 6-10 km depending on the wishes of the group. Return ferry back to Stockholm. You can purchase dinner on board.
