Björkliden - Lapland Holidays

Recognised as one of the best locations in the world to witness the awe inspiring Northern Lights, Bjorkliden is located in the very north of Swedish Lapland, high in the Swedish mountains. The climate & location mean this part of Sweden is widely recognised as one of the best places in the northern hemisphere to see the Northern Lights.

This is a winter destination like no other and one that will leave you wanting to see more of Sweden. You could be sitting in your private jacuzzi on your balcony, staring at the Northern Lights sipping champagne. The log cabins offer amazing views of Lapporten (a spectacular natural gateway to the mountains), Lake Torneträsk and the mountains of Swedish Lapland. For the best weather and a wider range of activities, our recommendation is a visit between mid-February and mid-May.

Björkliden is a great winter & skiing destination. There is a full range of winter activities including huskies, snowmobiles & northern lights tours. There are real mountains for real skiers and meter deep natural snow. The skiing season starts in early February and ends in mid May. The vertical drop is 538 metres which is the third highest in Sweden. There are 24 pistes, the longest being 3 kilometres and a variety of runs to suite all skiers. Skiing is also available in the Riksgränsen area, with transfer buses operating between the 2 regions (approx 30mins).

Log Cabins - new for 2011/12
During your stay in these log cabins you will find a little bit of luxury in what is a harsh, unforgiving mountain and yet undeniably beautiful environment. These large cabins have a living area of approx. 100m2, space for 8 people in 4 bedrooms (3 double / twins & 1 with bunk beds) plus a sofa bed. Stay warm by the heat of an open fire, relax in the sauna or enjoy a glass of champagne whilst sitting in your private Jacuzzi on the balcony. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave and large fridge. There are 2 bathrooms each with a shower & WC.

There is a local supermarket (short walk) that is open from 11Feb. Other supermarkets in Kiruna.
Activities available from 16Dec include a stay in Sweden’s highest mountain lodge, snowmobiling, snowshoes.
Activities available from 11Feb include all of the above plus husky sleds and the whole skiing area will also be open.
