Oyster Safari

A unique experience along the stunning West Coast of Sweden. During this Oyster Safari you will learn all there is to know about Oysters, where they live,  how they grow and more importantly you will have the opportunity to taste this Swedish delicacy that is exported to first class restaurants across the globe. 

Itinerary

Day 1

Fly from London to Gothenburg. Stay at Handelmans Flink ****

located on the island of Flatön, in the heart of Bohuslän and just 1 hour from Gothenburg. This modern hotel has just 10 rooms all with fantastic sea views and is widely regarded as one of the best hotels along the coast. Early booking is essential. 

Day 2

Oyster Bar

A short drive to the ferry and over to the island of Käringön and home to the Oyster Bar. You will enjoy the amazing view and experience of visiting the oyster farm and then relax in a wood burning hot tub, sipping champagne and tasting oysters. A delicious 3 course evening meal will be provided at a local restaurant. Käringön has been described as a place for those that enjoy the good life! Accommodation is in comfortable, spacious stugor (cottages).

Day 3

Oyster Safari

2 hours North of Gothenburg is the town of Grebbestad, home to the Oyster Academy and also host to the Nordic Oyster Opening Championships 2007! Såtajullen Tuffa is a wooden yacht built in 1952. On this Safari you will visit natural oyster banks in the Bohuslän archipelago and learn where they grow and how they live. During this fascinating and educational safari you will also have the opportunity to taste oysters fresh from the sea. A seafood salad will be served for lunch with ingredients fresh from the Grebbestad area. 

The evenings accommodation is just 20 mins from Grebbestad at Tanums Gestgifveri. Tanums Gestgifveri has the ‘Taste of West Sweden’ certification and we are able to offer you fine accommodation with breakfast and a 5 course evening meal, including local oysters and wine.

Day 4

Time to enjoy more of the West Coast before returning to the UK.

Price based on min party of 4 adults. Includes flights, hire car and bed and breakfast accommodation, a visit to the oyster farm, oyster bar including champagne and oyster tasting in the hot tub, 3 course evening meal, oyster safari in Grebbestad, seafood salad lunch and evening meal at Tanums.
