Northern Lights Holidays - Norway

Back due to popular demand! 2012/13 is the 2nd year that Simply Sweden will be organising this northern lights holiday to Tromso. We've added a few more activities to continue to give you best chances of seeing the Northern Lights in the picturesque coastal town of Tromso.

This holiday brings you some of the best opportunities to see the Northern Lights. Because of the rotation of the Earth, Tromso often lies directly under the Northern Lights activity belt between 6pm & midnight, even when the solar activity is low.

We have some suggested activities for you but you may wish to tailor your own holiday to suit you. One of the options is by including our Northern Lights Fjords Cruise. Please ask for our expert advice.

Itinerary
Day 1

Fly from UK to to the north of Norway & the picturesque city of Tromso via Oslo. Self transfer (15min airport bus) from airport to Hotel Bryggen in the centre of Tromso. This holiday is all about giving you the best opportunity to see the Northern Lights and our suggested activities are all about the magical, mesmerising Northern Lights over 300km within the arctic circle.

Suggested activity - Aurora Snow Shoe
This tour departs at 1830 and is therefore dependant on arrival time. You can always choose this on another day!

Day 2
Wake up in the heart of Tromso to a hearty breakfast and the snow covered views of Norwegian Lapland. Choose whether to have a day at leisure or head off on a 30hr husky tour to a wilderness camp.

Suggested activity - Northern Lights husky
An evening activity with some 4 legged friends going in search of the Northern Lights. Or for the slightly more adventurous a glorious 30 hour husky tour through the fjords and mountains, staying in the wilderness and offering great opportunities to see the Northern Lights.

Day 3
Breakfast at Hotel Bryggen and a day at leisure in Tromso. Enjoy some alternative activities, or take a visit to the Tromso Science Centre, full of information, pictures and the scientific background to the Northern Lights.
If you take part in the overnight husky tour you will return to Tromso at approx. 1730.

Suggested activity - Northern Lights Chase
One last chance to see the northern lights. Don't forget your passport as during your hunt you could go to Sweden or Finland.

Day 4
Breakfast and self transfer to the airport for flights back to the UK.

Price includes flights from UK & 3 nights bed & breakfast at hotel Bryggen. Activities are extras. The airport bus transfer costs approx. 90NOK return and can be purchased by card on board the bus.

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomena and can never be guaranteed. There are many theories about the best place and best time of year to see them. One thing is certain. They are very much real and Lapland in Sweden & Norway is a great place to see them and a great place to enjoy a winter holiday.
