ICEHOTEL Excursions and Activities 2009/10

We recommend you book your activities and excursions at ICEHOTEL approx. 8 weeks prior to departure. All snowmobile / ranger activities require a driving licence that is valid in Sweden. Prices may change without warning due to factors outside the control of Simply Sweden. Prices & times include any relevant transfers.

• Husky sleigh transfer
  No better way to arrive at the hotel.

• Snow mobile transfer 

A 2hr journey through ancient forests and across frozen lakes. £160 pp 2 per snowmobile. £235 for a single rider.

Northern Lights

• Northern Lights Snowmobile Excursion
  A guided snowmobile tour in search of the Northern Lights. Traditional light wilderness meal included.  £165 pp 2 per snowmobile. £240 single rider (7 to 11pm. 8 to midnight after 29th Mar)
• Northern Lights Husky excursion
  One of the best ways to explore the wilderness during the winter month. Includes fika in the wilderness and hopefully an impressive display from the Northern Lights! £96 pp (2hrs30)
• Dinner under the stars
  A guided tour of the Esrange Space Station with a short lecture on scientific background of the Northern Lights. After the tour you will enjoy a 3 course supper will be served at a wilderness camp as you search your favorite star constellation or the Northern Lights through binoculars. £230 pp (Minibus tour, 7-11pm. Not available in April)
• Northern Lights excursion by Horse
  New for this season. Ride icelandic horses through ancient forests silhouetted against the mountains, hoping the staggering Northern Lights dance across the sky. Supper served at a Sami wilderness camp. £125 pp (Up to 28Feb 15.30-2100, 1-31Mar 1700-2230)
• Northern Lights by Horse & Sleigh
  Glide silently over the snow as you look to the skies, admire the stars & hopefully the Northern Lights as you sit wrapped in sheep and reindeer skin on a peaceful journey through the wilderness. £75pp 1hr30.

• Wilderness Safari
  3hr snow mobile tour of the region across frozen lakes and rivers and through glittering ancient forests. Traditional light wilderness meal included. £145 pp 2 per snowmobile. £225 single rider. (1330 to 1630)
• Moose Winter Grazing Land
  ** Only 8 spaces available per tour ** A special 6 hour tour into the heart of Moose winter grazing country where you may see this shy creature in its natural habitat in the snow fields and forests of Swedish Lapland. £300 pp 2 per snowmobile. £380 single rider. Includes lunch. (0900am departure, approx 6 hours. Not available after 31st Mar.) 
• Introduction to snowmobiling
  Guided through the ancient forests surrounding Jukkasjärvi. £85 pp 2 per snowmobile. £160 single rider.(3.30 to 5pm)
• Overnight Snowmobile tour
  You will be collected from your hotel after lunch. Following a short safety briefing on how to drive your snowmobiles you will head deep into the Lapland Wilderness following your guide and with the opportunity to seek out new tracks. As you head for your wilderness log cabin on the banks of the frozen Torne River you will explore snow covered forests and cross frozen lakes and rivers. An exciting overnight tour for the slightly more adventurous!
  At the Wilderness Camp there are 2 wilderness suites and a large 3 bedroom log cabin with private rooms on the banks of the Torne River each with a log fire. There is running water and electricity! You will be catered for on a half board basis including evening meal and breakfast. The meals are prepared in the log cabin at the Wilderness Camp over a hot stove. At the Wilderness Camp you will find WC’s, showers and saunas. Your evening also includes time in a hot tub which will be kept warm for up to 3 hours. Look to the night skies for Northern Lights and a glittering array of stars. The hot tubs are new for 2009/10.

Husky Sleighs

• Dog Sled Excursion
  Includes fika in the wilderness. £150 pp
  (9.30 to 11am and 1 to 2.30pm)
• Dog sled excursion with kennel visit
  Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as you glide through the glorious white wilderness. Approx 28kms, includes lunch and a kennel visit to see the home of these wonderful animals. £280 pp (11am to 3pm)
• Drive your own Husky team
  Optional upgrade of the kennel visit excursion above. After some instruction you should be ready to follow after your guide and enjoy the thrill of being in command of your own husky team. £365pp

Skiing and Snowshoes

• Ski or snow shoe with guide
  Your guide will be with you through out this tour to a wilderness shelter and fika in the wilderness. Travel at your own pace back to ICEHOTEL. £64 pp (8.45am-10.45am)

• Sami Experience
  Enjoy traditional Sami food prepared over a campfire, experience reindeer pulling sleighs and indulge yourself in the everyday life and rich culture of the Sami. £155 pp
  (9.30 to 1pm and 2.30 to 6pm. 2.30 dep not available before 20th Dec or after March 29th)
• ICEdriving
  Test and improve your driving skills under the supervision of experienced instructors. Min age 18 and in possession of a driving licence valid in Sweden. 2 drivers per car and up to 2 passengers. Driver £310pp, passenger £110pp. (Fridays & Sundays 8am-midday. May open / close earlier subject to conditions)
• Ice Sculpting
  Spend the day carving your own masterpiece under the expert guidance of the ICEHOTEL artists. £55 pp (11am approx 2-3 hrs. Min age 12)
• Moose excursion by Horse
  New for this season. Ride icelandic horses through ancient forests and into the winter grazing lands. On horse back it is possible to get closer to these shy animals than usual. Includes lunch. £125 pp (0900-1500 not available in April)

• For the Enthusiast
  2 hours of great fun for those who enjoy driving snowmobiles! You will drive your individual snowmobile and perhaps enjoy the sensation of free riding. The perfect ending to your stay at ICEHOTEL. £235 single rider.
• Ranger Razer safari
  You will drive a Polaris Ranger Razer all terrain vehicle on an ice track for approx. 15mins. Test your times against other competitors to see who wins! £55 pp 2 per vehicle.
