What could be more satisfying than silently guiding your own team of loyal huskies through snow covered forests and into the glorious mountains in Swedish Lapland? The only noise you will hear is the true silence of nature and the gentle crunching of the snow as the sledge glides across the white surface. With opportunities to see the spectacular Northern Lights and local wildlife, such as elk and reindeer, make sure you have extra batteries and your camera is always close at hand! We use some of the most experienced and respected guides in the region and you will be able to tap into the wealth of knowledge about survival and life in arctic conditions. You will tell this story over the dinner table for years to come!
4 day itinerary
Day 2 to 3
As
you head from the frozen lakes into the mountains you witness the change
in terrain. Upon arrival at the camp you take care of the dogs before
settling down to a good evening meal in log cabins. The deep ravines and
birch forests are excellent grounds for the shy native animals.
Travelling high into the mountains with no protection from the forests,
the view becomes more and more impressive. From this distance you may
catch sight of a moose grazing on the willow trees. If time and
conditions allow there may also be a visit to the world famous and
original ICEHOTEL.
Day 4
After breakfast you return to kennels for an emotional farewell and head to ICEHOTEL, Ripan or the airport for a flight to Stockholm or
the UK.

Husky holidays information
It can be difficult to know what to bring on such a tour. The following list offers some advice of items to take and items to avoid.
Accommodation
The Wilderness Camps are basic and comfortable. They are heated by log burning fires. There is often no running water or electricity. Depending on which cabins are used (unknown until the very beginning of the tour) you could be accommodated in rooms of up to 6 beds. The weather plays an important role on distance travelled and which wilderness camps will be used.
Luggage
Any luggage which you bring that is not necessary on the tour will be securely stored for you. Only absolutely essential articles will be taken on the sleds in order to avoid unnecessary weight for the dogs to pull.
Clothing
Your clothing for the tour should be hardwearing and warm, ideally made of natural material, wool or cotton. Denim is not recommended. You will need to have changes of underwear to cover your stay, long thermal underwear and socks. Simply Sweden recommends many thin layers (instead of one thick layer) that trap the air and act as insulation.
Camera
Take a camera as there are likely to be some excellent photo opportunities. Remember to pack extra batteries as cold temperatures reduce battery life. You will not be able to charge your batteries during your husky tour.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are recommended for tours in the later winter months (March – May). Bright sunlight combined with snow is not good for your eyes.
Sleeping bags
If you wish to take your own sleeping bag then please do so, however, it should be manufactured to withstand temperatures down to -20°C, should weather conditions mean you have to sleep in tents.
Toiletries
There are saunas at many of the overnight stops; therefore you should pack some toiletry articles.
Valuables
On tours of 2 nights or longer there may be the opportunity to visit ICEHOTEL, where a small amount of money may be useful. For shorter tours you will not need money or credit cards. Valuables can be stored for you.
Equipment provided
Winter hats, gloves, boots, snow-scooter overalls and sleeping bags.
Food
All your food and snacks are catered for during your husky tour. Water is sourced locally from frozen lakes. Fish and meat, such as reindeer and elk feature heavily in the cooking, however all dietary needs can be catered for and this should be notified to Simply Sweden at the time of booking.
