Ripan & Aurora Spa

Northern Lights and Spa deep inside Swedish Lapland. A three night short break with a range of activities and tailor-made options close to the northern city of Kiruna.

Overview

Experience the magic of Swedish Lapland on this short break to the snow covered fairy tale forests of Swedish Lapland. Hotel Ripan is home to the new Aurora SPA from where you can enjoy all that Swedish Lapland has to offer plus relax in the pools, saunas and treatment rooms.

Directly under the northern lights corridor, Kiruna and Ripan are great locations from which to observe the northern lights. Huskies, snowmobiles and snowshoes are some of the best ways to explore the virgin snow and find your ideal location for a northern lights show. Other highlights in Kiruna include the world’s largest underground mine that has been mining iron ore since 1898, ICEHOTEL and the indigenous Sami.

The Sami Parliament is located in Kiruna and plays an important role in the rich Sami history and culture. The Sami people are traditionally nomadic and roam vast distances herding their reindeer between the mountains in the summer and the shelter of the forests during the winter.

We are one of the UK's tailor made specialists to this part of Swedish Lapland and this holiday can be adapted to include elements from almost all of our holidays in Swedish Lapland and parts of Northern Norway.

The Aurora SPA, the northern lights and the activities including Sami and reindeer excursions, snowmobiles and huskies.

Ripan & Aurora Spa - Swedish Lapland

Ripan and the Aurora Spa are perfectly located in Kiruna, the capital of Lapland, just 10 minutes walk from the city centre where ice festivals and seasonal markets are well worth a visit. The magical snow covered forests are just steps away where stunning white wilderness and shy wildlife make this the perfect winter escape from hustle and bustle of large British cities. Ripan is just a 30 minute transfer from ICEHOTEL, so you may want to combine a stay here with some time at ICEHOTEL or quite simply enjoy an excursion to this magical structure of ICE.

Entrance to the brand new Aurora spa is included. Relax indoors and enjoy the winter landscape through panoramic windows, or feel the cool caress of the polar winter across your cheek while enveloped by the warming comfort of the outdoor pool. If you are lucky, the colourful dance of the northern lights will entertain you. The SPA bucket is also included, full of treatments based on Swedish and Sami traditions.

Accommodation is modern and comfortable in individual hotel standard cabins, or stuga (as the Swedish call them!). All cabins have a bathroom with shower and WC, drying area, cable TV and telephone. The generous breakfast buffet and your evening meals are served in the cosy restaurant. There are also family cabins with 1 double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds, perfect for a family of 4 with children of all ages. These cabins have recently been refurbished to include a fridge, microwave / oven and small hob. Ripan has a fine restaurant, and like most Swedish restaurants, the ingredients are sourced locally and in tune with the passing seasons.
