Malangen is a fabulous location from which to experience the magic of the Norwegian Fjords and a spectacular northern lights show should Mother Nature be in the mood.
Nature based activities form an important part of the Malangen experience. Excellent seasonal adventures take place at Camp Nikka, Malangen’s very own wilderness camp, just a short walk from hotel. Choose between snowmobile safaris, husky sledding, ice fishing and northern lights activities to make the most of your stay in the remote north. This is a genuine mountain and marine environment with the local mountains exceeding 1000m.
This is a purpose built hotel offering modern hotel rooms, spacious cabins and apartments plus a comfortable restaurant all with wonderful fjord views. The menu has been produced after close cooperation with our partners on the Lofoten Islands (Børsen Spiser at Svinøya) to ensure food is sourced locally and in a sustainable manner to make it the best restaurant in the region.

Just 1hr30 from Tromsø on the Malangen Fjord is Malangen Resort, a purpose built location in idyllic surroundings. All rooms offer a high standard of accommodation and spectacular views; it’s a great place to relax, soak up the silence of nature and take part in some traditional winter activities.

There are 8 standard hotel rooms located in the main building. All rooms are ensuite.
Superior Rooms
With just 2 superior rooms availability is limited. These are located in the main building and are more spacious than the standard rooms.
Sea View Apartment
The most common room with 76 two bedroom (1 double / twin and 1 x bunk bed) apartments. There is comfortable lounge with balcony / terrace.
Standard Cabin
Stand-alone cabins with 2 or 3 bedrooms over 2 floors. Open plan living area and outdoor terrace from which to enjoy the views. All cabins are slightly different.
Deluxe Cabin
Spacious 3-bedroom cabins with 1 terrace and 1 upstairs balcony. Most have a fire place. All cabins are slightly different.
Other information
All meals are served at the restaurant in the main building, boasting a fjord view. Wifi is only available in the main building. A small souvenir shop is located in reception. There are no other shops within walking distance.

Husky safari
3 hours £168pp
A small intimate group of eager huskies is waiting for you just 10mins from Malangen. Following a safety briefing about how to drive your own husky team you set off in in pairs with a chance to change drivers halfway through the excursion. A delicious hot light meal is served afterwards by an open fire.
Info: Available from the 1st of December until the 31st of March. To drive your own husky team you must have a good sense of balance. Children 6-14yrs £126. Usual departure time 9am.
Snowmobile safari
4 hours £168pp
A 15min transfer into the mountains and the start point of this snowmobile tour with an unforgettable journey through the majestic scenery of this region. You will drive in pairs with a chance to change the drivers halfway through the excursion. A light hot meal and warm drinks are served by an open fire during the excursion.
Info: You must be in possession of a driving licence valid in Norway to drive a snowmobile. Available from the 1st of December until the 31st of March. Over 18yrs old only. Usual departure time 3pm.
Snowshoeing

Follow the footsteps of the world famous Norwegian explorers into the untouched wilderness to experience something unlike you’ve ever even dreamed of before – the beautiful silence of the snowy forest, the scent of the smoke from the open campfire and if lucky, maybe even a glimpse of a willow grouse or a red fox in their daily routines. A great way to explore!

Northern Light Watch

Malangen Resort is located in one of the most visited Northern Lights hotspots in the Tromsø area. ”The Watch” enhances your opportunity of seeing the lights. Prepare for the journey with a briefing about this natural phenomenon and the current conditions before we set off on a chase to wherever the light takes you. Our experienced guides can help you to set your cameras to capture this magical show on the sky on the best way possible and will continue the chase long after you fall asleep. If they spot the light, we will wake you up with a magical Sami song and resume the chase. Children 6-14yrs £130. Usual departure time 9.30pm.
Sami Cultural Evening
Approx. 3 hours £84pp
Visit a Laavu (traditional Sami style tent) and learn about the fascinating indigenous people of northern Norway and their nomadic way of life. Gather around an open fire, listen to their Joik (Sai song) and taste Sami snacks. Children 6-14yrs £63.

Fat Bike Excursion
Approx. 3 hours £65pp
A self-guided tour of the local area along pre-prepared tracks. A fat bike is a mountain bike with over-size tyres. A great way to explore and becoming increasingly popular across Scandinavia. Min age is 15yrs.
