Direct flights in the winter from Gatwick Airport. The Swedish Mountains - a genuine all year round destination from long summer days and dark cosy winter nights.
Welcome to Åre, Jämtland and the Swedish Mountains - a genuine all year round destination from long summer days and scenic mountain trails to colourful autumnal reds and yellows to dark winter nights, pure white snow, world class skiing and the northern lights.
Here in Kall you can venture into the mountains, or simply relax in this small village on the shores of Lake Kall at the foot of Åreskuten (the highest peak in the region at 1420m). 4 seasons is too simplistic; 6 would be a more accurate description as the weather and daylight hours change quickly in this region.
Summer
The best time to visit for an active holiday in the mountains. Never ending summer days, hundreds of kilometres of walking trails and a wide range of activities for young and old are drawing people into the Swedish mountains during the summer months in ever increasing numbers.
Autumn
A calming time of year for those who appreciate the true silence of nature and are happy with a more relaxed approach to their holiday. Colourful bright autumn colours and a visit for the Åre Autumn Market at the end of September is worthy of serious consideration. The northern lights are also possible - we first saw the northern lights on 15 August 2015 at this location.
Winter
Virgin white snow in the Scandes Mountains close to the Norwegian / Swedish border. Relax around the open fire or venture into the wilderness and experience remote isolation at this quiet location. Many snow based excursions plus world class skiing in Åre ski resort (45min drive). Illuminated cross country ski tracks are just 700m from the house. Northern lights are possible.
