Escape - Swedish Style! (Winter)

Our most accessible winter break in the hills surrounding the traditional Swedish village of Åmot, just 2hrs from Stockholm. Escape from it all!

Overview

Experience the magic of isolation in a small picturesque village somewhere in middle Sweden, close to the town of Ockelbo, 2 hours north of Stockholm.

This holiday is about snow, silence, remoteness and traditions surrounding rural Sweden. A typical Swede works in a big city, such as Stockholm, but will have a country house somewhere by a lake, easily accessible within 2 or 3 hours of Stockholm, such as Ockelbo - a place to escape, relax, recharge the batteries and forget about work and big city life for a few days. Traditional Swedish activities include skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing and then enjoy a coffee and pastry in the wilderness.

Now it's your turn. Fly to Stockholm, jump on the train (or pick up a car) and speed through the countryside to Ockelbo. Your hosts Jeroen or Sam are waiting for you at the station and will guide you through this region of natural beauty to Stilleben. Now it's time to simply relax and forget about everything else. Enjoy this moment.

Accommodation

Stilleben - Åmot

A cosy hotel which was once the village school in the typical Swedish village of Åmot. It is surrounded by hills and forests and is easily accessible from Stockholm.

Stilleben is a place for quiet reflection. You won't find TVs here but you will find endless nature trails and plenty of local wildlife. It is not unusual to see moose and deer and although you are unlikely to see them, you will probably find traces of bear, wolf and lynx.

The old school has just 6 bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms so you can be sure of a small and personal experience. Don't forget your swimming costume as your stay at Stilleben includes 2hrs in the hottub and sauna, located by the lake.
