Bjorkliden & Abisko

One of Simply Sweden's favourite locations in Sweden. Includes stunning scenery and the services of our local representatives.

Overview

Experience the magic of Björkliden. This is one of Simply Sweden's favourite locations in Sweden.

This picturesque and remote area of Swedish Lapland is widely recognised as one of the best locations in the world to witness the awe inspiring northern lights. Björkliden and Abisko are located high in the Swedish mountains just a few kilometres from the Norwegian border. The climate and geographical features mean this part of Sweden not only lies directly under the northern lights corridor but is also the perfect staging post for an enjoyable, relaxing and active holiday.

The Arctic and mountain scenery really are something special, the weather is naturally unpredictable and there is a relaxing, warm aura in the cosy lounge / reception area around the open fire. When the northern lights are on display Lake Torneträsk or Lapporten, the gigantic natural gateway to the mountains, provide the perfect backdrop for your northern lights photographs. In reception you will find a northern lights forecast for the coming days.

Simply step outside and you have the optimum viewing platform, high above Lake Törneträsk. Just a short walk away from the hotel there is an aurora viewing hut with a wide view across the northern skies. Here you can stay warm as you wait for the magical aurora to dance across the night sky.
