Abisko, Björkliden and ICEHOTEL

Abisko, Björkliden & ICEHOTEL - the perfect northern lights combo in Swedish Lapland

Overview

Abikso and Björkliden are in a picturesque and remote area of Swedish Lapland widely recognised as one of the best locations in the world to witness the awe inspiring northern lights. Björkliden and Abisko are located high in the Swedish mountains just a few kilometres from the Norwegian border. The climate and geographical features mean this part of Sweden not only lies directly under the northern lights corridor but is also the perfect staging post for an enjoyable, relaxing and active holiday.

The Arctic and mountain scenery really are something special, the weather is naturally unpredictable and there is a relaxing, warm aura in the cosy lounge / reception area around the open fire. When the northern lights are on display Lake Torneträsk or Lapporten, the gigantic natural gateway to the mountains, provide the perfect backdrop for your northern lights photographs. In reception you will find a northern lights forecast for the coming days.

ICEHOTEL is one of the iconic bucket list items on any holiday to Swedish Lapland. It is quite amazing what can be created with a little bit of imagination and several tonnes of ice, snow and snice (snow and ice). The ART and Winter Suites are always elaborately decorated with incredible ICEart and ICEsculptures.

The Simply Sweden experience
The northern lights opportunities, the scenery, the unique environment of the Lapland mountains around Abisko and Björkliden. Seeing the blue arch for the first time when you arrive at ICEHOTEL is quite surreal.
