FamilyChildren always see more than grown-ups. A dolphin in a cloud, treasure in a pile of pebbles or a slide in a fallen tree. So it’s not just theme parks and zoos that make Sweden a paradise for kids. Throughout the centuries, magical forests and sparkling lakes have conjured up images of fairies, spirits and trolls among both children and adults. Nature has provided a rich breeding ground for fairytales that is probably best manifested by the author Astrid Lindgren, who, better than anyone else, could rise up to the level of children. Pippi Longstocking, the world’s strongest girl – and maybe also the kindest – has become part of the Swedish folk tradition, along with many other characters from her books. Universeum is a national science discovery centre located in Gothenburg as is Liseberg, Northern Europe’s largest theme park. Zoos with exciting tropical and Nordic animals can be found in Skåne, on Öland and in Norrköping. In Stockholm there’s Junibacken, an enchanted house with more Astrid Lindgren characters, and the Gröna Lund amusement park on the shores of the leafy island of Djurgården to name a few. Not to mention Furuvik Park in Gävle, Jamtli Historieland in Östersund and Skansen in Stockholm, the worlds first open air museum. We have carefully designed the following holidays specifically with children in mind. Family adventure Bohuslän Coast Log cabins
